Is that email really from Snug Site?

Scammers have been sending emails that pretend to come from Snug Site. Here's how to tell a genuine email from us, from a fake one, and what to do if something doesn't look right.

We only ever email from @snugsite.com.au

Every genuine email from our team comes from an address ending in @snugsite.com.au. We never use Gmail, Outlook, Hotmail, Yahoo or any other free email service. If an email claims to be from Snug Site and the address ends in anything else, it isn't from us.

✓ Genuine

support@snugsite.com.au

Any address ending in @snugsite.com.au, such as support@snugsite.com.au or team@snugsite.com.au.

✕ Scam example

snug.team@gmail.com

It uses our name, but it's a free Gmail address. Don't reply, click any links or pay anything.

Check the address, not just the name. Scammers can set the sender name to "Snug Site" so it looks right in your inbox. Tap or hover over the sender name to see the actual email address behind it.

Warning signs of a fake email

The scam emails we've seen so far tend to share a few things in common. If you spot any of these, treat the email as fake until you've checked with us.

A free email address

The sender uses Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo or another free service, even if the name says Snug Site. Ours always end in @snugsite.com.au.

A sudden, urgent deadline

Your domain, hosting or website is about to expire or be suspended "today", and you've never heard about it before. We give plenty of notice for renewals.

Unusual payment requests

A request to pay by PayPal, gift cards, crypto or a bank transfer to new account details. Our bank details don't change by email, so always call us to confirm before paying.

Links asking you to log in

A link to "verify your account" or sign in to your website, hosting or email. We'll never ask you to send us a password by email.

Received a suspicious email?

Don't act on it. Take a minute to check, and let us know so we can warn the other businesses we look after.

1

Don't click, open or pay

Leave the links and attachments alone, don't reply, and don't make any payment based on the email.

2

Report it as phishing

In Gmail, open the email, click the three dots menu and choose Report phishing. In Outlook, use Report and then Report phishing. This helps get the scam account shut down.

3

Forward it to us

Send it to support@snugsite.com.au and tell us when you received it. We'll confirm whether it's genuine and keep an eye out for the same scam elsewhere.

4

Already clicked or paid? Contact Us

If you've entered a password or sent money, contact us directly so we can secure your account. If payment has been made - also contact your bank directly to report it and ask about reversing the charge.

Does this mean my website has been hacked?

No. Someone pretending to be us by email doesn't mean your website, your hosting or our systems have been broken into. Scammers copy business names, logos and email signatures from public sources like websites and domain records, then send emails from an address they control.

Your site stays safe as long as nobody hands over their login details. If you think you may have entered a password after clicking a link in one of these emails, let us know and we'll reset it and check your site for you.

Not sure? Check with us first

Use the contact details below, not the ones in the email you received. We never mind you double-checking, and it's always better to ask.
