Yoast SEO has been a standard WordPress SEO plugin for well over a decade, best known for its traffic-light SEO and readability analysis, XML sitemaps and structured data. It has recently added a set of features aimed at AI search. Every version, including the free plugin, can generate a customisable llms.txt file and combine your site's schema into one graph (built with Microsoft's NLWeb protocol), so AI agents can get a full picture of your content in a single request.
Yoast SEO Premium adds the AI writing tools. AI Generate suggests SEO titles, meta descriptions and social titles, AI Optimize suggests edits for selected SEO checks, and AI Summarize turns long posts into bullet-point takeaways. The Bulk Editor lets AI draft metadata across your whole site for you to approve, the Content Planner finds gaps in your content and turns a topic into a structured draft, and Bot Blocker lets you choose which AI crawlers can use your content. For the many sites already running Yoast, it's the simplest way to add AI help without installing another plugin.
Yoast SEO uses a Freemium model. The free plugin includes llms.txt, schema aggregation and a small number of trial AI generations. The AI features need Yoast SEO Premium, which is about US$118.80 a year for one site. Yoast WooCommerce SEO adds AI for product titles and descriptions, and the AI+ plan adds AI Brand Insights, which tracks how ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity describe your brand. The AI runs through Yoast's own service, so there is no option to use your own OpenAI, Claude or Gemini key.
