Each year, the town of Castlemaine plays host to the Town Folk Festival; a single-day celebration of music, community, and creativity set on Dja Dja Wurrung Country. The festival spans four charmingly walkable stages, welcoming families, food-lovers and music-goers to a warm afternoon-into-evening experience. And each year, it arrives with a completely refreshed visual identity.

For this year’s edition, our role was to breathe new life into the festival’s digital presence. While the website was built atop the existing structure, the latest iteration is a significant upgrade; both visually and structurally.

Outcomes

Working in sync with the festival’s updated branding and poster art, we delivered a cohesive new website look that oozes charm and character. The artist listing page and individual artist profiles were refreshed with new templates, subtle animations, and inviting layouts.

Behind the scenes, the backend was restructured for clarity and efficiency. We streamlined the Elementor page and post template system to simplify updates for future festivals. This means next year’s transition to a new theme and identity will be faster, smoother and easier for the client.

We also took the opportunity to refine the mobile experience with thoughtful enhancements:

A floating mobile menu button and sticky event info menu ensure key information is always within reach.

The previously scattered event details; once spread across multiple pages, are now unified in a single, easy-to-navigate section. Visitors can find everything they need with a single tap.

All external links have been adjusted to open in new tabs, keeping users oriented and informed.
